Staff Support Team

Counties has a small staff team based in Westbury, Wiltshire, which provides invaluable support and back-up for all aspects of the charity’s work.


Martin Erwin, CEO

Involved in local church missions, schools work and agricultural show outreach, Martin also wrote the evangelism programme ‘Dying to Meet You.’ In 1996, along with others, he planted Challenge Community Church in Hereford, and until taking up his role as CEO at Counties, he was on the leadership team at Challenge. Martin is married to Rachel, and they have three daughters – Keren, Anna and Emily. After studying at GLO in Scotland, (now Tilsley College), Martin joined the Counties training programme in 1991, subsequently becoming the Counties evangelist for Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Jonathan Brooks-Martin, Operations Manager

Jonathan has previously worked in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation unit in London, studied at the London School of Theology, and spent three and a half years working in a church. His role at Counties involves overseeing finance, admin, health and safety, IT and general office activities.
Jonathan is married to Ruth and has three children. He lives in Westbury and is in leadership at Warminster Baptist Church.
Margaret Jack

Margaret Jack, Finance Secretary

Margaret and her husband Peter live in North Somerset. Tasks at Counties involve the financial side of the organisation. Margaret has two daughters, both living in Bath, and five grandchildren. She attends Welton Baptist Church.
Angela Sherwood

Angela Sherwood PA to CEO

Before working at Counties, Angela worked with her husband making classical bespoke furniture. Her role at Counties includes general office duties and admin support. Angela is married to Andrew with two daughters, and they attend Maranatha church in Trowbridge.
Allison Smith

Allison Smith, Office Assistant

Allison is a part-time children and families worker at Bratton Baptist Church in Wiltshire, does Primary supply teaching, and is also a part-time administration assistant for Counties, helping the busy support office in Westbury. Originally from Bracknell in Berkshire, Allison and her husband Chris served at Great Hollands Free Church as Deacon and Elder respectively. Allison had worked as church administrator for several years before taking on responsibility for youth and children’s work. They have two daughters and now attend Bratton Baptist Church.
Jenny Rossiter

Jenny Rossiter, Neighbourhood Chaplains Coordinator

Jenny joined Counties in 2015. She has an MA in Applied Theology from Moorlands College, specialising in church community and families work. She was a founder member of ‘The Hub’ a church softplay and family centre in Minehead West Somerset, a former church youth worker, and Spring Harvest children’s work volunteer. She is married to Simon and they have three children.
Kevin Baldwin

Kevin Baldwin, Life exhibition and Schools Resources Field Team Leader

Kevin has a heart for children’s work and has been a Counties evangelist in Norfolk for 13 years before taking on the role as Life exhibition co-ordinator. This involves site visits, promotion, bookings and the general running of the exhibition. As Field Team Leader he also supports the operation of Key to Life and GSUS Live. Kevin gained a BA(Hons) in Mission and Ministry from Cliff College. Married to Anita, they have two daughters Hannah and Rebekah and three Grandchildren.

Dave Thomas, Resources Coordinator for Key to Life and GSUS Live

After graduating from University in Plymouth with a degree in Outdoor Adventure Education, Dave went on to work in an outdoor education centre for two years. Dave is currently involved in leading his church youth group and Christian activity holidays in Cornwall, Herefordshire and Shropshire. This equipped him with the skills and vision to join the Counties team in 2018 as Schools Resource coordinator. Responsible for GSUS Live and Key to Life units, equipping local churches at training dates, visiting potential sites and arranging the unit tours. Originally from Hereford, Dave married his wife, Rachel, in 2016. They live in Plymouth where they are active members of their local church, Efford Christian Fellowship.
Beverley Bedford Training Officer3

Beverley Bedford, Training Officer

Beverley joined the Evangelist training programme with Counties in September 2014, and since then has been working alongside Grosvenor Church as Counties’ North Devon Evangelist. In this role she has also supported a church plant through engagement with community outreach. . Beverley attended The Faith Mission Bible College in 1990 and has been involved in evangelism, mission, discipleship, church leadership, and mentoring for the last 30 years. Beverley trained as a nurse in 2006 and has used her skills developing the roles of Parish Nurse and Neighbourhood Chaplain, working as a practitioner and training leader. As Counties Training Officer Beverley oversees development and delivery of Counties training, including: One2Lead; ETP; Neighbourhood Chaplains Training; TEAM; and other projects. Beverley is married to Bryan and lives in the South West of England with her two grown up children.

James Hyde, M4 Lead Coach, Counties Planting Network

James was a solicitor in the water and waste industry until leaving to work at Grosvenor Church in 2004, where he is the Admin Elder. Until 2019 he was a trustee of Counties UK, has now joined our staff team, and continues to chair our Training Group focused on new evangelists and planters in the UK. James brings a broad experience of coaching to the M4 process. He is married to Debbie and they have two sons. They live in the south-west of England.
Tim Cracknell Blackandwhite

Tim Cracknell, Church Planting Officer 

Tim was called from dairy farming to replant the old gospel hall in Cinderford, Gloucestershire 14 years ago with his wife Katrina. Over that time the Forest Community Church has been birthed, grown and is currently resourcing other churches. He now combines the role of being senior pastor at Forest with his work for Counties Planting Network, where he seeks to share from his experience to support and encourage the growth of new churches and replants across the UK using the M4 process.
