Ian & Sally Carr
Proclamation and Practice; Communication and Compassion: Sharing the love of God with young people from 9 to 99, in church, school, and community, and enabling others to do the same.
Ian and Sally joined Counties in January 2011, and took over as the Counties evangelists for Dorset in April 2012. Their ministry is based in Sturminster Newton in north Dorset.
Areas of ministry focus involve:
Supporting local church outreach through preaching and Bible-teaching; children's and youth work; sharing the Good News with 'non-church-goers', including prisoners.
Approaches used include:
Bible activity clubs in conjunction with local churches; summer camps and youth weekends; church services, home groups and prison Bible studies; school assemblies, R.E. lessons and C.U. meetings, mentoring and chaplaincy work.
Ian grew up in the north-east of England. After graduating from university in Edinburgh, he spent 20 years as a teacher of French and other subjects, in Hampshire and Dorset until 2010.
In October 2008, Ian and Sally felt called by the Lord to consider Christian ministry, and a redundancy a few months later provided the opportunity to take the step. Ian returned to study at Moorlands College in Christchurch, from where he gained a B.A. in Applied Theology in 2011.
Sally grew up in Alresford near Winchester, and has spent the past 20 plus years working in a variety of settings: in a children's home, with the elderly, in a psychiatric hospital, in 'care in the community', in managing a hydrotherapy pool and as a Teaching Assistant in the local primary school, her current role.
Ian and Sally were married in 1993, and have a son and a daughter, Marcus (20) and Elsbeth (18).
