Latest Good News Stories

November 2011

Phil & Sheila Davies (Swansea): We recently gained favour with a market stall holder who encouraged us to set up the sketch-board and preach by his stall ! This led to many good conversations.

Andy & Miriam Jelfs (Essex S): A harvest message with a different slant was used by the Lord to help believers going through trials a man with hearing problems; a man with a difficult marriage found it helpful; and the parents of a couple expecting a child with a very low life expectancy.

Paul & Vanessa Willmott (W. Mids): A Teacher's response to Christianity Unpacked "Thanks for the CD Rom and notes which arrived in school last week.  I have already built into my lesson plans the one about funerals and I will show the CD to the rest of the department this week. A cracking little resource – thank you!"

Tim & Charissa Cooke (Manch./Nat.): Two girl Senior campers were moved by ministry at Camp and have since been baptised at their own Church.

Benjamin & Chiara Hersh (London ETP): ‘J' comes from an Ultra Orthodox family. He invited us to his home, never visited before by a Christian. The house is a street totally populated by Hassidic Jews. 'J' wanted us to hear his favourite music artists and was willing to hear one of our favourite worship song. This exchange gave us the opportunity to talk to him about Yeshua (Jesus) and the Gospel story of the woman with the issue of blood. 'J' has health issues and he said that he  did not know that Yeshua was also a healer. This was the first time ever that in the house the Gospel and His music  was heard. 'J' had the French windows of his garden doors open and the name of Jesus and His music was drifting  in the garden backing on all sides by Jewish Hassidic homes and who knows, may His name was heard also by other  Hassidic?

Paul & Vanessa Willmott (W. Mids): Met with a couple of teenagers today doing a work placement with their church, a church I visit school for. With big smiles they recounted memories of assemblies they had seen me do years ago.  How great that small things we do or say can have a long-lasting impact.

Ian & Sally Carr (Dorset ETP): Praise God for the recent Bible study at Guy’s Marsh Prison. It was really encouraging to see men responding readily to the Word – John 3, delivered without technology. Pray for two who requested prayer: one for voices that aren’t God’s; another needing to get right with the Lord again.

Lionel & Mavis Clargo (Surrey S): I remember sitting with you 10 years ago in church after the service and you challenged me and encouraged me to trust the Lord,” said a youth leader. I gave him a Gideon NT.  He has since been saved, baptized and plays a big part in leading the youth work and services.  TAKE TIME to sit and talk after a service it can have eternal value!

David & Katie Symons (N. Devon): Wonderful unity shown by all the churches in Barnstaple throughout the 2 weeks of the Pentecost Festival.

David & Lindsey Brown (W. Mids): E (12), who became a Christian a few months ago, is getting baptised on 10th July.

Tim & Katrina Cracknell (Cinderford CPI): One non-Churched family who were contacted during the recent mission day came along to Church the following sunday and said the service was like it was "just for us."

Gordon & Penny Curley (Hants.): Yesterday a man said to Penny and myself; “You are the ones responsible for converting my son!” It was great to hear that the man’s son had come to faith in Christ on our ‘Good News’ Camp a number of years ago. The son is now at university and a keen Christian who is active serving God in the C.U. and local Church.

June 2011

Will & Lynne Andrews (Herts & Beds): Shops have been a good source of opportunities this week, while shopping in Asda Lynne and I had an unexpected, but good, opportunity to speak to a couple of Mormon missionaries and give them a tract to go away with. It’s a good job I keep one in my wallet, as I didn’t expect to do any witnessing while in the vegetable isle!

David & Lindsey Brown (W. Mids): Year 6 pupils at one school were full of questions about the devil (and Hallowe’en!) after relating the temptation of Jesus, giving opportunity to dispel the notion of a red cartoon figure with horns and pointed tail.

Ivor & Angela Cooper (Warks.): Andrew, who attended ‘Take a look at life’ at a Leamington Cafe towards the end of 2010, was baptised at Myton Church in Warwick on Easter Sunday morning.

James & Naomi Richards (Torfaen & Valleys ETP): After leaflet dropping at a local church who are low on numbers, three new people attended their Easter service! God is good!
